Team Fresh Air Athena
Team Fresh Air Athena is a BC women’s trade team. We love bikes and we love going fast! The group of racers was handpicked to perform under pressure in the coolest of cucumber of ways. We plan on making our mark in the BC cycling community and doing our part to encourage the growth of equality in women’s sport.
We all embody the very essence of the Athena Project and support all women, young, old, beginner to expert to learn and grow two wheels at a time.
This Team supports the Club because without the club, we’d have no new racers, no young women learning to race and no growth. By day we are coaches, mentors and encouragers, and by night our secret identity (along with strenuous training) of being racers comes out.
Anne Lena Ouellet
Anne grew up in Quebec City and moved to Vancouver in order to teach French in high school. She played soccer for over 20 years but after a few years of playing in local leagues, she was yearning for more competitiveness and a more rigorous training regimen. Cycling was just the sport for her. The things she loves most about cycling are its un-forgivingness, the cycling community, sprinting, travelling, and criteriums. After a promising first season, she is excited to join Athena Racing for her second year of racing.Race Results:

Fiona discovered her love of road cycling when she joined a local club in Vancouver in 2006. Fiona had moved from Ontario to BC a year or so prior, and was looking to make some connections with active, fun people in her new home. She very quickly got drawn into the excitement of competition, and (with some trepidation!) entered her first road race that year. From there, Fiona was hooked and continued racing, and after a few good results, she was fortunate to have the chance to race with the Trek/Red Truck Racing Team. In 2009, Fiona raced and rode with the dynamic expat cycling community in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia with the Riyadh Wheelers Cycling Club.
When Fiona is off the bike, she usually heads to the mountains with her husband, Mark, who is her favourite and most supportive athletic partner. Fiona and Mark enjoy mountaineering, trekking, xc skiing and ski touring. On the non-athletic side of things, Fiona works as a nursing practice consultant for nurses working in First Nations communities across BC.
Though Fiona enjoyed/enjoys competing in cycling, it is the friendships and community that truly fuel her continued passion for the sport. With Team Athena, Fiona is excited to have the opportunity to help strengthen and build the women's cycling community from a recreational, and competitive perspective in Kelowna.Race Results:

Based on her results and competitive zeal, not many would guess that 2015 has been Emily Millard’s first season of competitive cycling. Perhaps Emily’s uncommon ability to perform under pressure comes from her previous career as a professional ballet dancer that saw her dance in front of sold out crowds with the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre.
Despite a full time schedule of academics and work in the computer science field, Emily has taken her training and racing to the next level in 2015. Emily gives back to Kelowna’s vibrant sport community by volunteering with PacificSport Okanagan, Kidsport, as well and the Axel Merckx Youth Cycling Series.Race Results:
